Satguru Swami Shri Brahma Nand ji Bhuriwale founder patron of Maharaj Bhuriwale Garib Dassi Education Trust was a saint with a difference as he preferred building “Temples of Knowledge” (Educational Institutions) to provide education facilities at the door step of people of the backward kandi areas of district Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, Hoshiarpur,Ropar, and Ludhiana in Punjab. He belonged to an affluent family of jamindars, who also had a large farm in Nainital.
Shri Girdhari Singh (the real name of Swami Shri Brahma Nand ji Bhuriwale) came in contact with Swami Shri Lal Dass ji Bhuriwale and in 1962 he renounced all worldly
comforts to become Swami Shri Brahma Nand for propagating the teachings of Acharya Garib Dass Ji (Founder of the Garib Dassi Sect).
Since then, Swami Brahma Nand ji dedicated his life to the welfare of the “Gau (cow), Garib (Poor) and Kanya (Girl)”. He had urged his disciples to donate generously for
setting up schools and colleges in remote rural areas for the benefit of the poor, especially girls. Besides, he had also mobilized his disciples and devotees to set up
hospitals and organize medical camps in villages.
Swami Shri Brahma Nand ji Bhuriwale was honoured by the Governor of Punjab for his notable contribution in the field of education. Acharya Sh. Chetna Nand ji Bhuriwale, a
disciple of Swami Shri Brahma Nand ji Bhuriwale was nominated by Maharaj ji as his successor to carry on the good work.Rana Gajinder Chand (1929-1992) Rana Gajinder Chand, a true blooded Rajput Thakur with royal lineage that could be traced to Maharaja of Garhwal, was born on 19th August, 1929 in Mansowal and expired on 26th April, 1992 in a car accident. He started his early education at Mansowal school, then did his Cambridge education from Colonel Brown’s at Dahradun. By the age of 19 years, he was back at Mansowal to look after the family owned.
He was always ready to help the needy people. All the houses currently in Mansowal village are built on land that belongs to this family and were gradually given to the poor and destitute farmers of the area who were latking roof over their head by the large hearted Ranaji. At times money and basic amenities were also provided to the needy by him.
In 1960’s untouchably was widely prevalent but Rana Ji totally rejected this notion and treated everybody as equal. His son is of the opinion that they are not even 10% of him in terms of generosity and the desire for betterment of socity.
Summing up, we can say that he was a true social up lifter believing in neither class not creed simply working for the benefit of humanity.
His eldest son Yatinder Chand Tikka also has a close connection with the villagers and is actively involved in promoting women education in this area and that’s what
made him to donate this 18 acres of land in his father’s memory to the Trust for starting educational institutions to promote woman education in is his area.
This College and Three other educational institutions has been established on this land by the maharaj duri wale Garib Dassi education trust.
